Calligraphic art exhibit to be featured in Iranian capital

Exhibition of calligraphic art by painter Fatemeh Hassani will open at the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

Solo exhibition of calligraphic paintings by modern painter Fatemeh Hassani will open at the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The exhibit titled ‘My Many Unknowns’ (‘Che Danamhaye Besyar’ in Persian) will be featured at Gallery Number 2 in the Niavaran Cultural Center in Tehran on Friday.

The solo exhibition will feature 25 paintings in various dimensions made with a special technique applying both acrylic and oil colors, and can pass for abstract artworks with a modern touch.

“Having lived with calligraphy for over two decades, I know how powerful the letters and words are. The art of calligraphy is rooted both in form and meaning, two congruous manifestations, of the visual art,” Hassani said.

Nastaliq calligraphy script is a cursive style with long horizontal strokes and short verticals, and is amongst the most fluid calligraphy styles, the artist added.

“Nastaliq can have amazing compositions and precise proportionalities. With proper distribution of soft and rigid, round and flat, heavenly ups and earthly downs, some master calligraphers can go beyond verbal messages and establish a deep emotional connection with the audience,” he said.

The Niavaran Cultural Center is located in northern Tehran and the exhibit will be open until February 11.
